The Love of a Bohemian Mama

A Vintage Vacation

Take a step back in time . . . to a preserved Southern California beach colony nestled in the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District, between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach. "Built as a seaside colony in the 1930’s & 40’s, Crystal Cove endures as a magical escape for visitors who appreciate the opportunity to experience California’s natural and architectural beauty, untouched by time."
"Thanks to the efforts of the Crystal Cove Alliance, all of the original cottages are still standing today – spared from the hands of developers. Twenty-one cottages have already been authentically restored to reflect the era between 1935 and 1955, when the Cove evolved as a community."
"We invite you to experience the magic of Crystal Cove as it existed in the 1930s to ‘50s with a stay in one of eleven(11) Individual or three(3) Dorm-Style Cottages. Located directly on the beach or overlooking the seaside from a bluff top, each cottage has been painstakingly restored and furnished to recreate Crystal Cove’s unique vintage beach culture and rustic ambience. Reservations are available year-round."
You can book a reservation, on the 1st of every month, for up to 7 months in advance. I highly recommend getting online in advance to register and scope it out; for these vintage beach cottages book very quickly.

Each cottage has its' own special name, from the "Sand Castle Cottage," to the "Dive Shack," to the "Romantic Retreat." Each cottage is incredibly special and unique. What a magical place to create memories with your family and friends!

  3. I love Crystal Cove! Growing up, I had a friend who lived in one of the houses...this was when the land was on a 99 year lease and the people owned their homes. it's still a favorite beach and the restaurant on the beach is great!
