A Wish for Willis

Picture from A Wish for Animals
{love at first sight}
Over the weekend, we welcomed a beautiful dog, named Willis, into our family. Willis is one of the many dogs who have been rescued from high kill shelters in Los Angeles County, and lovingly brought to A Wish for Animals.

"A Wish for Animals is a non-profit organization that has a BIG heart for animals. We rescue animals that are in need or in danger. While we primarily rescue dogs and cats, we are always willing to try to help whenever there is an animal in need. We also provide medical assistance funds, food, vaccinations and spay and neutering to low income families or families that can not afford large medical bills for their pets. Our mission is to help save as many animals as possible from suffering or death and to find them wonderful homes to spend the rest of their lives in. It's so amazing to see where these animals came from and where they end up, in their new homes with so much love. They are so grateful to have what so many of us take for granted every day!"

Willis was rescued, as a puppy, from an abusive home where he was starved. After that, he was taken to a high kill shelter in LA; and his future did not look bright. Luckily, someone saved him from death and brought him to A Wish for Animals; where he has been living for over a year. It was only last week, that I somehow came across their website and instantly fell in love with Willis. {it may have been his beautiful coat that first caught my eye}

At first, we were a bit concerned about his size, breed, and disposition; but as they say, "never judge a book by its' cover." Willis has made it very clear that he is a lover and incredibly appreciative to have a home. From the moment we welcomed Willis into our home, he instantly became a part of our family. Not a moment goes by that he is not waging his tail, giving us kisses, and falling on his back to be rubbed.

{And while we are Willis' foster family, I have a feeling he may soon have a permanent place in our home, and forever in our hearts.}

I think what you've done for Willis is incredible and I hope more people consider adopting a dog, especially bully breeds because so many of those dogs really aren't bullies at all.
