To Everything There Is A Season

Just outside our neighborhood we discovered a dead owl. It was laying face down with its magnificent wings spread open. We could not just leave it there, because not only do we believe that owls are sacred creatures, but we couldn't trust that this owl would be given a proper and ceremonial burial if left in the bushes. So, we rushed home, grabbed a box, and came back for the owl. We brought the owl home, and after doing a little research on the proper and most respectful Native American way to bury a sacred creature, we preformed a ritual ceremony. I have always believed in Native American tradition; and therefore, I believe that animals hold great spiritual power and symbolic meaning. If an animal crosses your path, it is believed that there is a deep significance to your life and a strong message to impart. The owl is the bringer of wisdom and death. The owl is a messenger that brings you clarity and illumination; for she "penetrates the darkness of the blackest night."

I find it very special, that in the midst of all the changes, deaths of relationships, and broken patterns in our lives over the past year, that we are {finally} receiving confirmation from the Universe that we are on the right path. After all, you have to believe, trust in your heart, and keep your eyes wide open!

"I open my heart and soul to the truth.
And ask that my life's journey be illuminated before me.
I ask for the wisdom to see, even in the darkness of life's challenges.
And the ability to manifest by true path."

  3. It's so sad to see a life end. But, what you did, out of love and respect for such a majestic creature, was so beautiful. Thank you for doing something so respectful when most others would just have kept walking.

Native Americans have such wise and beautiful traditions.
